comic twenty one - nevermind rapture, here's wanglowski, part eight

Everyone! Sing with me now! “I hate February! Becaaaaause of Annual Reports at woooork! Why do all the baaaanks have to have them all printed at the same exact tiiiiime!” Whew. Yes, I know it doesn’t rhyme. But I do know that I’m going to go out of my mind if this month doesn’t end. All the banks do all of their financial sections at the same exact time. I am one of two employees, and I am the only one who does the financial sections, so …. You do the math.

But enough of that. I’m going to talk about this comic. This comic is very much centered around Hillary. I’m going to talk a little about Hillary now, because I don’t think I have. Hillary is a breath of fresh air for me in the comics, because she’s the only character who I haven’t had to do a complete overhaul on. I’ve changed a bit of her back story, but she had so little, that it wasn’t exactly hard. I also added her companion, Phoenix, who I apparently can’t decide how to draw properly. If you go back and look through the comics, it’s staggering how much Phoenix’s appearance changes. You know, I really shouldn’t be telling you that. Lol. It’s okay, though. I’ve actually settled on an appearance for Phoenix now (I hope!).

Hillary Firebrand is based on a little girl I saw when I was walking home from school the one day. The little girl had blonde hair and a tee shirt with a smiley face with a bloody hole in it’s head. The kid was no more than six or seven, so I couldn’t believe that her parents would allow her to wear a shirt like this. I came home that day and drew up a little girl character. I gave her a bandana and an army jacket, and took out the bloody bullet hole from the smiley face. I don’t know who this kid is or where she is now, so she’ll never know that a comic character was based on this random encounter. Lol.

Anyway, I guess I should be wishing everyone a happy president’s day with this entry. Until we meet again!
